2003 Alumni Fellow Recipient - Mirian Graddick-Weir

Photo of Mirian Graddick-WeirMirian Graddick-Weir, ‘78g, ‘81g, is executive vice president-human resources at AT&T and is responsible for the design, planning and administration of human resources programs--including compensation, benefits, recruiting and training--for AT&T’s 69,000 employees in the United States and around the world. She is a member of AT&T’s executive committee, which is comprised of the company’s top eight officers.

Graddick-Weir joined AT&T in 1981 and held a variety of assignments in human resources. She then moved to AT&T’s Consumer Services unit, where she directed five AT&T customer service centers in the eastern United States, serving the company’s millions of residential customers.

In 1990, Graddick-Weir received AT&T’s Catherine B. Cleary Management Award, which is given to a senior manager who exemplifies excellence in leadership and management. She serves on the boards of The Harleysville Insurance Companies, the National Medical Fellowships, Inc., and the Joint Center for Political & Economic Studies. In addition, she is a board trustee for Hampton University, and is a member of the Personnel Round Table, the HR Roundtable Group, and the Cowdrick Group.

The Society of Psychologists in Management named Graddick-Weir the 2003 Distinguished Psychologist in Management. She also was named a fellow to the National Academy of Human Resources (2001), and HR Executive of the Year (2000) by HR Executive magazine.

Graddick-Weir received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial/organizational psychology from Penn State and her B.A. degree in psychology from Hampton University. She was nominated by the Graduate School to receive this award.
