Ten Students Receive PSAA Dissertation Awards

University Park -- Ten Students Receive Alumni Association Dissertation Awards

Ten graduate students received the Penn State Alumni Association Dissertation Awards this spring in recognition of their outstanding achievement in scholarship and professional accomplishments. These awards, considered to be among the most prestigious available to Penn State graduate students, provide funding to full-time doctoral students who have passed their comprehensive exams and have received approval of their dissertation topics, or to M.F.A. students in their final year.

The recipients of the 2006 Alumni Association Dissertation Awards are: Timothy D. Arner, English; Guangyu Chen, computer science and engineering; Robert M. Cicchillo, biochemistry and molecular biology; Anthony C. Clark, physics; Amanda M. Dawson, psychology; Shivprakash Ravikumar Iyer, civil engineering; Martin H. Lenihan, rural sociology; Wuxing Li, plant physiology; Adetty R. Perez de Miles, art education and women’s studies; and Tyrone O. Rooney, geosciences.

Each student received a $5,000 award and was recognized at the Graduate School Alumni Society’s Spring Social and Recognition Program held on March 25. Funds for these awards were made possible by a generous gift from the Penn State Alumni Association.
