Ranking of Doctorate Recipients

According to Doctorate Recipients from United States Universities: Summary Report 2002, Penn State* is ranked 11 th in all fields in the “Top 20 Doctorate-granting Institutions by Broad Field of Doctorate” category with 539 doctorate recipients. Specifically, Penn State’s rankings by broad fields are:

The report is the thirty-sixth in a series of reports on research doctorates awarded by universities in the United States. The data presented in the report are from the annual Survey of Earned Doctorates, a census of the 39,955 research doctorate recipients who earned their degrees between July 1, 2001 and June 30, 2002.
